Hitz Boxing’s Lightweight Up and Comer Fred Bowen is a quiet guy, but his dedication to his craft is second to none.
Whenever Sam Colonna Boxing Gym is open, you are pretty much guaranteed to see Bowen training like he has everything in life to lose. Bowen has been displaying unreal workrate, handspeed, precision, and power in the gym day after day.
Bobby Hitz has offered Bowen numerous shots on his Fight Night at the Horseshoe series events in the past couple years and the Champ has shown so much that a promotional contract was recently offered and signed.
Bowen has fought on five of his six Chicago based matches on Hitz Boxing’s shows, fairing well. He has compiled a 4-0-1 record on Hitz cards with a hard fought draw to Hitz and Cameron Duncan Management prospect Fidel Navarrete in 2013 to kickstart his career following a loss to open his career in Mississippi in 2009.
Since the Navarrete draw, Bowen has unstoppable and nearly untouchable. He closed out 2014 with an emphatic third round TKO over previously undefeated and prosperous Joey Hoefferle.
We caught up with Bowen (5-1-1, 2 KOs) as he prepares to issue another opponent his first loss of their career. He is set for an August 22nd showdown with Kevin Cruz (2-0, 2 KOs) at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN.
